What would you do if you woke up in your bed with a naked dead guy next to you? Without any memory of what might’ve happened? That’s exactly what Kristie has to deal with. Being a good girl and a social worker makes things even worse. How could she end up in a situation like this? It seems she’ll have to find out… with a bit of help from her boss lady, coworker, and two policemen who seem to be glued to their ladies ;).

Yet another fun and light read from D.E. Haggerty. It was just what I needed during these cold days in overcrowded trains. Well… can’t say it’s cold inside a train like this, but there’s the waiting part before it finally arrives. Continue reading “Cute and cuddly mystery strikes again :)”

More cupcakes, sexy beard and gangs

It’s adorable, it’s funny and it has a mysterious bearded man who just happens to make that look work for him (which is not easy). Add to that a murder, some far from legal actions and some delicious cooking and you’ve got another great book from D.E. Haggerty.

Funny Friday – army men, cupcakes and knitting

Today it will be one BBC drama series and a spotlight for a certain author that made me fall in love with cozy mysteries. Yes, I liked them before, but never that much!

Dad’s Army

This is an unusual drama, not book related but based on a British sitcom. If you’re in need of some British humor with a bunch of men trying to protect their town during war – here’s something for you.

Unfortunately, I missed the airing this year because it looks like there’s still the last episode available online, but you can always find it in a different source or even buy it if you want. Continue reading “Funny Friday – army men, cupcakes and knitting”

Cupcakes, pole dancing and murder

I’ve promised you a review of yet another book by one of my latest favorite writers D.E. Haggerty and here it is! This time, it’s a brand new book [yes, I’m a bit after the premiere, but I had some other reads to finish before they expired] and an opening to the new series! It involves tasty cupcakes, pink-haired baker, a not-so-skinny doctor/bakery owner, and a hot detective. Yup, the hot detective is a must! 😛

Goodreads blurb:

Callie’s life is rather awesome. She owns a successful bakery and teaches German literature at the local university. There’s just one tiny problem. She has no self-confidence when it comes to her body. And then there’s the little matter of her being accused of murdering her pole dancing instructor. There’s no way Callie’s going to risk losing her teaching position and thus she embarks, with her best baker bud Anna, on a journey to discover the real killer. Between stripper auditions and a detective who insists Callie is the woman of his dreams, it’s a roller coaster adventure. Cupcakes not included

If you’re in a need of a book that makes you crave for sweets, keeps your mood up and has a bit of mystery then this is it! Callie is a perfect and relatable character, especially if you’re self-conscious about your weight ;). Together with her kind of crazy, in a positive way, pixie friend they make a unique duo that will make sure to keep your mood up. Prepare for some laugh 🙂 Continue reading “Cupcakes, pole dancing and murder”
