Rich bad boy and his endangered empire

Have you ever heard about Largo Winch? His stories started with a few novels and graphic novels, but my first meeting with him was through a TV-Show. I’d love to watch it again, but it seems impossible to get it :/. There was a movie a few years ago, but somehow I missed it.

Anyway, I had these two books in my library for years and I finally decided to read them. I wanted to do that for a while now, but somehow always ended up with a different book in my hands.

The ones I left behind

It’s Monday? Let’s be negative!

Here are two books I was meant to read and review, but after a couple of tries I simply gave up. Since both of them were from NetGalley I kind of felt obliged to write some kind of reviews, so here they are. I know they are far from being positive, but what can I say?

I received copies of these books from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for honest reviews.

The more “Sherlock” stories I pick up from post-Doyle authors the more I’m convinced I really should give up. I do realize his writing was very specific and not everyone likes it, but you have to admit it was still pretty damn good and interesting. Continue reading “The ones I left behind”

Wrapping up long-due reviews

I think I finally realized I won’t write the full reviews of these books especially since more and more time passes and I can’t finish (or even start) writing some of these, so here’s a gathering of some, seemingly random stories I’ve read in 2016. Actually, there will be one, or maybe two more posts like this as I’d like to separate novels, comics and maybe manga because it looks like I’ve got a lot of stories I read and haven’t reviewed at all.

This is a solid continuation to “Cursed” that I reviewed before. This book has a bit more intrigue and surprises. Even with the steady, almost slow pace, it reads well. Continue reading “Wrapping up long-due reviews”

Mara is traveling with her mother and the rest of the carnival to yet another location where they are promised a nice check of money for the entertainment they can provide. What could go wrong in this little, seemingly friendly if a bit strange town?

It seems quite a lot. Starting with some strange vision, disappearing member of the troop and a brutal attack on another. But there are also good things in this town, especially for Mara. Or rather one thing that’s of particular interest to Mara – a rather interesting guy with a curious glint in his eyes. Continue reading “Circus, monsters and curiosities”
