2016 Goodreads summary

Hello people!

How was Christmas? Any bookish gifts? Well I didn’t get any, but I got some fantastic ones, so I’m totally happy :D.

Anyway, Goodreads already prepared a standard yearly summary and I think now’s the time to share it with you since I think that’s pretty much how it will look like at the end of the year. Not that I won’t be reading, but I don’t think I’ll actually finish anything by then.

If you’re curious about what I’ve read and how I rated it here’s the GR summary of this year in books:

What happened in November – Monthly summary

Another rather calm and chilly month had passed. More books were bought, some promotions used, first Christmas gifts found, very few posts were written and read :P. I’m not really sorry for that. I think I needed a rest.

Today’s summary will be short, so I’ll try not to bore you too much ;).

The bookish statistics

  • Finished 11 stories: 4 novels, 1 graphic novel, 3 mangas, 2 short stories,audio together 2107 pages of every possible type 😛
  • Average rating: 3.8 which isn’t very good, but still above my GR average
  • Goodreads still shows I’m behind schedule on yearly challenge, but I still haven’t added some books I’ve listened to, so… not really behind ;P

Audio Thursday

It’s funny what you can find among the Black Friday deals. I was browsing the net, searching for some maybe-to-be gifts and I stumbled upon two pages offering audiobooks and ebooks for such a low monthly pay that it seems like a crime. Add to that a test period of 14-30 days and you can have plenty of reading material to last throughout these long winter evenings. Both of these come with a phone app so you can take your books with you wherever you want.

playsterPlayster

I’ve started using https://www.playster.com/. It has a 30-day trial period and besides books, you can also watch movies and listen to music. There are plenty of new and old books there. I’ve already listened to “Dark Matter”, I’m working my way through “Mogworld” and I have plenty of books in my queue :P. Both the app and the page itself have some good and bad sides. This is our Independence Day!

google-dzien-niepodleglosci

Well, it is in Poland :D. That’s why I intend to show off some Polish books to you. I did try to check which of these were published in English, but it seems it’s not so easy. Buuut… I found this nice page: http://www.bookinstitute.pl. It has a list of authors and each of them has a little section with translated book and the “target” languages. Somehow it doesn’t look like it has it all, but it’s a start. The page is in English and it basically has news about Polish books, authors, etc.

When you can’t find information about a book, where do you go? Goodreads! 😛 So I searched, and here are some stories that I thought are worth attention. Click on the cover to go to Goodreads. Continue reading “This is our Independence Day!”
