I’m baaaaack!

Hello, dear bookworms!

Guess who’s back :D. I missed you guys, but you know… life ;).

To those who wonder – no, nothing bad happened to me, I was simply busy with other things. I should have a bit more time for everything right now, so I’ll be slowly getting my blog back up again. There might be some changes, I don’t know yet, but I might rearrange a few things and maybe add some different content. We’ll see :).

What I did when I didn’t…

Let’s skip the “work” part because let’s face it, I’m not letting work interfere too much with my life, but it does drain me somewhat sometimes, especially when they move our office… and will do that again within few months… so annoying [I lost some good food sources like the Ramen food truck! and Coffee Point…]. Here’s my current view, and I know I should’ve made the photo on a nicer day, but here you have all the cloudy glory 😛

Looks boring, right? It’s better than our last view, where we’ve only seen a busy street and some office building across. And it’s not as noisy :). And the green on the left – it’s a part of some police academy [nooo, not the movie one!] training grounds, so on occasions, we can see some of them training, sometimes even with dogs and there’s a helicopter… so yeah, it’s OK for now. And yes, I am writing this post from the office instead of working… I probably won’t finish it now, but it’s a start ;).

So, since I’ve “skipped” the work part, let’s move on to more interesting bits 😀

I got a serious drinking problem… For the last two months, I’ve been using teabags instead of nice and tasty leafy tea. If you don’t understand how it’s a problem you really need to try tea leaves. It takes a tiny bit more effort to prepare, but it tastes better. I need to fix that bad habit ;).

From the bookish point of view – I haven’t read many actual books, basically few mangas, re-read of The Martian and I’m currently about halfway through Carve the Mark. What I did read though were all the things about Dungeons and Dragons – from the official manuals, through some adventures ending with many various articles and guides.

And since I’ve already mention Dungeons and Dragons I have to admit this is the thing that took most of my free time lately and I’m not even a bit sorry ;). If you ever played, you know what I mean! But playing is one thing, the other part is actually leading the game and that’s what I’ve been learning and actually started doing lately. TOTALLY AWESOME! Well, I do have a great bunch of players, so it’s mostly thanks to them, but it’s still pretty cool.

And why it took so much of my free time? If you’re a player, then it doesn’t require that much of you unless you really want to get into the world (and it’s way more fun if you do), but if you want to be a GM there are several things you really should learn and many more that you want to learn to make life easier ;).

Plus there are some fun stuff, like drawing your own maps, creating encounters and making up the whole story (including all the places your players might want to visit but are really not on the path you thought they should use…). I do like the mapping part :D. I’ve barely started learning and here you can see the first sketch of my world, but I’m getting better (I hope).

See you soon!

OK, I’m gonna stop now. I think that’s enough of a break-time summary :). I need a while to get back into the flow, but I’ll be moving on with the blog again. As for the possible new content – I might add few thing about D&D here and there, maybe even something like a campaign journal. There won’t be much of it as we’re not meeting often enough [I wish we were, but… life], but who knows, maybe I’ll pull some of you into the right directions of seeking other D&D nerds out there and playing with them?

      1. True, or there’s probably a decent tea store somewhere else not too far away… I guess so far I’ve just been too lazy to actually look 🙂 (to be fair, they did say the renovations would be finished in a month so I thought the tea bag situation would be temporary, but 3 months on it’s still closed…)

Welcome back ! I was missing your posts since my own return .

Lucky that you get a view with Helicopters around , my view is the medical morgue 😰

FYI preferring Tea-bags over Tea leaves is blasphemous , I hope you get back to drinking tea the way they are meant to be .

Also , I love D&D , I try not to boast , but I am mostly chosen as the GM .

Anyways , Good to see your posts back 🙂

Try to bend the rules a bit and make it more about having fun even when people are failing .

also I try to make my villains / enemies more fun than the players .

And I try to keep things simple and make up stuff as we go along

Welcome back, Magda! You know, that photo reminds me of the concrete monstrosity I once worked in. They all look the same, don’t they.
Now …. TEA! I positively hate teabags (often described as the sweepings from the floor). I recommend you buy a mug with a removable strainer – you should be able to get one in a decent hardware store, or on ebay. Better than tea bags any day, and just as quick to make.

  3. Hey, I was just thinking earlier today that I missed seeing you around the blogosphere; great to hear from you! Wow, going from D&D player to DMing is a big step, and I totally get how it can be very time consuming . . . but fun, too. 😀

    1. Oh it is fun! A bit stressful sometimes, but still :D. It feels great to introduce your own world to other people and let them explore it. It has some similarities to book writing, but there’s much more unpredictability due to the players 😀
      And no editing whatsoever 😉

Glad to have you back 🙂 I’ve always wanted to try D&D but I’d probably become obsessed and never do anything else. The only way I’ve ever made tea is using a tea bag. I guess it’s just the lazy American way of doing it.

    1. Thanks 😀

Oh yes, D&D is mighty addictive, but I’d say it’s one of the good kind of addictions especially since it involves friends 😉
And I totally understand the “lazy way” especially at work, but there are so many lovely leafy tea mixes, and you can make your own even, so it’s really the way to do it… if you have time and will. And yes, it might cost a bit more too.
