BBC Thursday – 19th of May

Hello again! I hope you had something to listen last week. I still had a hard time writing, but as I see today not much had changed on my BBC lo-listen list. I’ve got 3 dramas for you today and I’ll have 2 or three next week. Somehow I can’t find anything fascinating right now.

Today it will be a bit of classic, a spy thriller, and a comedy. All very British, so prepare some tea, get your volume up and listen.

1. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (James Bond) by Ian Fleming

Hunting for SPECTRE boss Ernst Stavro Blofeld in France, agent OO7 James Bond meets a tragic contessa. Joanna Lumley reads Ian Fleming’s thriller in ten-parts.

First published in 1963, this was Fleming’s 11th Bond novel, sandwiched between ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ and ‘You Only Live Twice’. In movie terms, this was the sixth of the original Bond movie franchise with George Lazenby playing the hero and Diana Rigg as Tracy.

I do like the ones with Connery and the latest three, but let’s face it – they are basically an action packed movies with very schematic villains and a hero that gets always out of a hard situation. I like them :).

As for the BBC dramas – they have just a bit more plot from the obvious lack of visual effects situation, so I find them rather entertaining.
