Update from 2017-01-07
The year had past, some goals were met, some not so much :). I’m leaving this page be for now and here are the post I wrote to sum up year 2016:
- 2016 Goodreads summary
- Best books of 2016
- Worst books of 2016
- 2016 Challenge summary
- New goals for 2017 (and some charts)

You might’ve already seen my post about this year’s reading challenges: I solemnly swear…
This page is intended to keep track on the points I’ll gather throughout the year. Without it, I won’t be able to find a thing at the end of year 😉
Let’s start with Goodreads challenge
This widget thingy from Goodreads totally doesn’t work… it stays the same just like at the moment you’ve added it. Well, I’ll update it once in a while.
The Netgalley % growth – keep up with the newest releases, don’t exceed the publication date and get the Netgalley feedback ratio higher. [32%]
Points on this challenge: 1 point per 3% closer to the magical 80% or higher
Current score: 6 points and 19 percent
The big list of small challenges I want to accomplish (points for each added in brackets, possibly with list of books):
- A paperback I own – 1 – Illuminae
- One of my ebooks that I actually paid for – 2 – Murder, Mystery & Dating Mayhem, Strange Magic
- A graphic novel – 20 – favorite for now – Monstress
- An audio book that’s been on my list way too long – 10 – favorite for now – The False Prince
- Re-read one of my favorite books and review it, I really want to include Harry Potter and Witcher here – 2 – Enchanted, The last wish
- A book that won Goodreads Choice Award in 2015 – 1 – Dark matter
- A book that is among the finalists of GR Choice Awards from any year – 4 – The Martian, Cruel Beauty, Raven boys, The false prince
- Read a classic. The two I’ve got currently on my have-to-read list are “The Count of Monte Christo” and “The Picture of Dorian Grey”. The first one was on my list for ages and I really need to read it this year – 4 – Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Prince and the Pauper, Adrift in Pacific, Little prince
- A book that becomes a movie this year (like The 5th wave).
- A book I want to read because of a movie I’ve seen. – 1 – The Martian
- A Fairytale retelling – 4 – Alice Takes Back Wonderland, Enchanted, The Golden Apple, Complete Alice in Wonderland
- The story under 150 pages – 8 – Kaminishi: Four Seasons, From Hell to Breakfast, The Golden Cage, Broken banners, A reaper of stone, Deadman’s hand, Pieces of hate, Musiville

- A big book – over 600 pages
- A book published in 2016 – 35 – favorite for now – Steps of Power series
- A book and its prequel – 1 – Flashback: Siren Song + Strange Magic
- Series finale – 1 – Rose Under Fire
- A murder mystery – 4 – Murder at the Vicarage, Love in the Time of Murder, Halfway Bitten, Halfway dead
- A dystopian novel – 1 – Kingdom of ashes
- Book bought because of the cover – 1 – These Broken Stars
- A banned book
- A story I stopped reading before, but actually wanted to finish
- A series starter – 10 – The Golden Cage, Enchanted, The Golden Apple, Halfway dead, The Misadventures of Grumpy Cat (and Pokey!), Archmage, Murder, Mystery & Dating Mayhem, The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 1: The Faust Act, Peter and the Starcatchers, Cursed

- A newly bought book (start reading within a month of purchase) – 1 – Illuminae
- A book based on mythology – 2 – Cruel Beauty, Sleeping Giants
- Random book from my paper to-be-read pile – 1 – Adrift in the Pacific: Two Years Holiday
- New to me author – 39 – too many to list, so I’ll just put a number here
- Color cover fun – a book which cover is mainly one of these colors:
white – 2 – The Raven Boys, The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 1
yellow – 1 – The Misadventures of Grumpy Cat (and Pokey!)
orange – 3 – Kaminishi, The Martian, Illuminae
red – 1 – From Hell to Breakfast
purple – 1 – Halfway Bitten
blue – 3 – Love in the Time of Murder, The Golden Cage, The False Prince, Ash and Echoes
green – 1 – Musiville
gray – 1 – Hinges Book Two: Paper Tigers
black – 2 – Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Complete Alice in Wonderland
brown – 1 – Kings or pawns - Around the world in books – check how many countries or US states I can visit through books. This one won’t be easy since I mostly read fantasy, but I’m curious to see what countries I can read through :). An extra rule – one book = one country, so I can’t simply use one book to travel around the world, I’d have to choose which country I’m using from a certain book if the action happens in more than one. – 1 point per country – 12
Current score: 185 points
Now it’s time for the A to Z challenges. I will try to update this list monthly, maybe even more often if I’ll remember 😉
All the books will be listed using this key:
title (linked to Goodreads), author, rating, date when finished.
Goal: Read a book that the TITLE / AUTHOR begins with every letter A to Z. The A, An and The don’t count.
*for U (Author challenge only), Q, X, Y, Z you can use any book with those letters in the title / in author’s name.
