Top 5 Wednesday – Authors I’ve Discovered This Year

imgresThere were quite many books I liked this year. Quite many new authors I’ve discovered too. Some of them you already know, some of you probably never heard of.

Since it is a Top 5 list the idea is to place my chosen ones in a certain order, but I have to admit it was very hard to place them. I changed it few times before deciding on this, so be aware that these are all Top 1 discovered authors for me for this year.

Brian K. Vaughan Saga 1 Saga 2

Brian K. Vaughan – I finally got to read Saga! And you know what? I liked it. Yes, I know it was obvious, I was bound to like it. Great story, great characters and great graphic. What’s not to like right? I’ve read the first two parts, soon to be third since I also have that one.

Aaron Galvin - Author Headshot copy salem's vengeance Salem's fury

Aaron Galvin – with his “Vengeance” series. The author used some wicked skill to write this series. Great use of language, including character-specific accents, history references that must’ve needed some research. Really well done. I still have one more book to read until I’ll have to say goodbye to this trilogy. I will present you with a review 🙂

3

Jesse Baruffi Otto Von Trapezoid

Jesse Baruffi – yes, finally a completely new writer on my list! With his one book about Otto and Esmeralda he totally deserves his spot on this list. I will have a review of his book ready soon, but I can tell you now that it’s AWESOME! I had a great time reading it and I recommend it to anyone who wants to have a laugh.

Elżbieta Cherezińska  Korona śniegu i krwi

Elżbieta Cherezińska – great Polish writer who created a series of history novels about Poland. The trick is, she wrote them in such a way that you almost feel the fantasy leaking out of the pages. You can find the old religion spreading in the forest with it’s last believers, when you read about fighting knights you will also see their crest animals and monsters fighting each other. There are many things like these in her books and that’s why they’re an awesome read. Currently, I read just the first book, the second one is waiting on my TBR pile and there will be more to come :).

Marissa Meyer Glitches Cinder

Marissa Meyer – I’ve already read Cinder and Glitches and I still need to find time to read the rest of the series. It starts great and I hear all good things about the other books, so I know I will read on. I just need to find some time…

TV-Kitty-icon2

What great authors have you discovered this year?

Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned?

  1. I’ve signed up for Top 5 Wednesdays but haven’t had the chance of starting any yet, so I will probably start in November so I can keep the pace. Oh I absolutely loved Otto and Esmerelda too!
